Seventeen, NewJeans bag their first Golden Disc Awards grand prizes

K-pop boy band Seventeen and girl group NewJeans won their first Golden Disc Awards (GDA) “daesang” or grand prizes. 

The 38th Golden Disc Awards ceremony was held on Jan. 6 at the Jakarta International Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia and was hosted by K-pop idol-actor Cha Eun-woo and singer Sung Si-kyung.

The GDA honored winners in digital music and albums “released between mid-November 2022 and early-November 2023” based on Circle Chart (formerly Gaon) data, according to the awards website. 

Seventeen won the Album Daesang or Album of the Year for their record-setting “FML,” bagging the award nearly nine years after their debut in 2015. 

NewJeans, which debuted in July 2022, took home the grand prize or Digital Daesang or Song of the Year for “Ditto.”

Winning the Album Bonsang or main prize are BTS’ Jungkook, Aespa, ZeroBaseOne, Tomorrow X Together, ENHYPEN, IVE, Le Sserafim, Seventeen, Stray Kids and NCT Dream. 

The awardees for Digital Bonsang or main prize are BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, Seventeen, IVE, (G)I-DLE, Seventeen’s BSS, BTS’ Jungkook, NewJeans and Parc Jae-jung.
