Grade 1 pupil strangled to death in Quezon

SARIAYA, Quezon – A Grade 1 pupil died after she was allegedly punched and strangled by a man suffering from lucid interval here on Saturday afternoon, January 6.

Police identified the fatality as Jonalyn of Purok 1, Barangay Morong, this town. Jonalyn’s playmate and neighbor, Angelica, a Grade 3, was injured.

A GRADE 1 pupil was allegedly strangled by a man suffering from lucid interval in Sariaya, Quezon on January 6.

Investigation said the victims while playing at Jonalyn's backyard when the suspect, Pocholo, a resident of Purok 5, Barangay Pili, here, arrived and asked them to accompany him to Angelica's mother.

While they were on the way to Angelica's house and upon reaching a forested area, the suspect grabbed and punched them and tied their necks using buli leaves.

Angelica was able to escape and hide in the forested area until she fell asleep.She rushed to her house when she woke up and narrated their ordeal to her mother and Jonalyn’s father.

They found the body of Jonalyn lying on the grassy area in Sitio Bulihan.

Police are pursuing the suspect who faces related charges.

Lucid interval, according to the National Library of Medicine in the United States, is a period of time between regaining consciousness after a short period of unconsciousness, resulting from a head injury and deteriorating after the onset of neurologic signs and symptoms caused by that injury.
