Rondae Hollis-Jefferson denied claims that he purposely went after the Rain or Shine bench that resulted in his heated exchange with Elasto Painters head coach Yeng Guiao in the waning seconds of TNT’s 119-112 defeat on Friday night, Jan. 5, in the PBA Commissioner's Cup.

The former TNT import clarified that he was merely talking to the referee who called a technical foul on his brother Rahlir who took over his spot as the Tropang Giga reinforcement.
The younger Hollis-Jefferson went all the way from the side of TNT to behind ROS’ bench as he continued to complain to the referee.
He was being asked to return to the Tropang Giga’s side by members of the Elasto Painters coaching staff but that was when things got heated as Guiao and Hollis-Jefferson figured in a verbal spat that had the former TNT import be restrained by his teammates.
“I didn’t go to their bench. I was talking to the ref. I was upset at the ref’s call, so I followed the ref down the sideline. The ref will tell you,” an animated Hollis-Jefferson told members of the press after the game.
“Out of frustration as a fan of TNT. I’m a fan of TNT right now and as a little brother of a person that’s doing really well, I was hurt. My emotions led me to follow the referee,” said Rondae whose brother, Rahlir had an impressive debut in the PBA after dropping 50 points.
Hollis-Jefferson also clarified that he said nothing toward the ROS bench and only got heated after the exchange with Guiao.
“I have no disrespect to your team. I said nothing to your team. Nothing. So for you to talk to me like that as a man, when I got kids, I would never talk to you like that. I will never say anything to you like that,” he said.
“I would never flip you off. I’m sure they got that on camera, him flipping me off. Let’s play that back, please.”
