Rains to persist over parts of PH due to 'amihan', easterlies, shear line
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, Jan. 6, said the northeast monsoon, easterlies, and shear line may continue to bring rain showers to parts of the country.

In PAGASA's 4 a.m. bulletin, it said Bicol Region, Davao Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Surigao del Sur, and Surigao del Norte will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the shear line---an area where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterlies converge.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may occur in the affected areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
In Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and Quezon, cloudy skies with light rains will be felt, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains both due to northeast monsoon, which is locally known as "amihan."
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the localized thunderstorms and easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
PAGASA also warned the public of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
