CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Shabu and marijuana valued at P4.62 billion were seized and 341 drug personalities were arrested in the Police Regional Office-Cordillera’s anti-illegal drugs campaign in 2023.
Police Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr., PRO-Cordillera director, said that based on records from the Regional Operations Division, 581 anti-illegal drug operations – buy-bust, marijuana eradication, police response, implementation of search warrants, service of warrants of arrest, checkpoints, and interdiction – were conducted from January 1 to December 31.

Peredo said 341 drug personalities were apprehended, with the Baguio City Police Office having the most arrests with 133, followed by the Benguet Police Provincial Office with 75; Kalinga PPO, 53; Abra PPO, 31; Mountain Province PPO, 25; Ifugao PPO, 17; and Apayao PPO, seven.
He said as a result of continuous marijuana eradication operations, 2,121,611 fully grown marijuana plants and 2,371,211.11 grams of dried marijuana leaves, stalks, and fruiting tops were uprooted and burned in Benguet, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao.
With the continuous community engagement of PRO-Cordillera policemen, 12 Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUDs) were encouraged to surrender and undergo the Community-Based Recovery and Wellness Program (RWP). A total of 155 PWUDs have completed the RWP.
