PH Red Cross assets, volunteers on standby for upcoming Traslacion 2024
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Saturday, Jan. 6, assured that its assets and volunteers are on standby to assist millions of devotees for Traslacion 2024 at the Quiapo Church and Quirino Grandstand from Jan. 7 to 10.

The PRC, in a statement, noted that it will dispatch over 1,000 trained first aiders, Emergency Response Unit (ERU) personnel, and Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) to 10 first aid stations and welfare desks along the procession route.
It is also supported by six teams of foot patrollers who will serve as mobile first aiders.
"The PRC understands the importance of this event to millions of Filipinos," said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard "Dick" Gordon.
"We are committed to accompanying every Filipino in gatherings that reflect our country's traditions, beliefs, and culture," he added.
He also pointed out the PRC's top priority is the "safety" of every Filipino attending these events.
Given this, the organization will mobilize volunteers from different chapters in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Rizal province.
They will also set up an Emergency Field Hospital (EFH) near Kartilya ng Katipunan to augment the EFHs of the Department of Health (DOH) and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
Seventeen ambulance units, a fire truck, two rescue boats, and one amphibian vehicle will also be strategically positioned throughout the procession route, according to PRC.
Moreover, PRC Secretary-General Dr. Gwen Pang expressed her pride in the volunteers who have stepped up to serve during every Traslacion.
"I am proud of every PRC personnel who volunteered to serve our kababayan (countrymen) in one of the most celebrated religious events in Philippine history," she said.
In 2022, the PRC provided medical care to over 800 devotees.
