In the program, Tinig ng Kababaihan, PCW Deputy Executive Director for Management Services Atty. Khay Ann Magundayao-Borlado on Friday, Jan. 5 said the commission will remain active in pushing for reforms in certain laws, which are "disadvantageous" to women.

"Sometimes, these are disadvantageous to some women just like some provisions in the Anti-Rape Law and in the Civil Code of the Philippines," said Borlado.

Borlado also said the PCW will persist in supporting the forwarding of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression (SOGIE) Law and the standardization of divorce in the country.

"We believe that in advocating for women's rights lies the equal opportunities for all gender," Borlado added.

Moreover, Borlado said the PCW will not falter in creating advocacies for women in the "informal" sector wherein there will be an inclusive access for information and technology.

Borlado noted the steps and goals of PCW are always anchored on the mandates of Magna Carta for Women.

"According to Magna Carta of Women, the women's rights are human rights," Borlado said.

PCW, which was formally known as the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) and which was the first body to promote women's rights in Asia will celebrate its 49th anniversary on Sunday, Jan. 7.
