P116,800 illegal firecrackers destroyed


CAMP Marcelo A. Adduru, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Police Regional Office-2 on Friday destroyed illegal firecrackers seized in Cagayan Valley worth P116,762.

These firecrackers were Piccolo, Pop-Pop, Five Star, Pla-Pla, Lolo Thunder, Giant Bawang, Giant Whistle Bomb, Atomic Bomb (Super Lolo), Large Size Judas Belt (Goodbye Philippines), Mother Rocket (Boga), Kwiton (Kabasi), and Kwitis.

The Regional Operations Division said a total of 18,565 firecrackers worth P116,762 were seized from December 16 to January 4.

Confiscated from December 27 to January 4 were 14,672 firecrackers valued at P80,807.

The destruction ceremony was led by PRO-2 chief Police Brig. Gen. Christopher C. Birung at the PRO-2 Grandstand in this camp.

Birung thanked firecracker sellers and retailers for complying with Republic Act 7183 or "An Act Regulating the Sale, Manufacture, Distribution, and Use of Firecrackers and Other Pyrotechnic Devices."
