Drug pusher yields P20-M shabu in buy-bust

CEBU CITY â€“ Suspected shabu worth more than P20 million was seized and a drug pusher was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue City, Cebu on Saturday, January 6.

Police identified the suspect as Marichu AÃ±ora.

The Drug Enforcement Unit of the Mandaue City Police Office said the suspect, a resident of Barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue, was in the list of high-value individuals involved in the illegal drugs trade.

The MCPO-DEU led by Police Lt. Col. Wilfredo Alarcon Jr. and Police Col. Maribel Getigan, together with the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, started monitoring the suspect after her alleged illegal drug activities were reported to authorities.

Investigation said the suspect was arrested here for drugs but was released after availing of the plea-bargaining agreement.

Seized from her was three kilos of shabu with an estimated value of P20.7 million.

Police said they suspect that the seized illegal drugs were intended for distribution for the upcoming Sinulog Festival.
