Francis Casey Alcantara and Japanese partner Kaichi Uchida yielded to their Thai counterparts on Friday, Jan. 5, in the semifinals of the Nonthaburi ATP Challenger in Thailand.

The unseeded Alcantara and Uchida fought hard in the second set in an attempt to extend the match, but fell short against wildcard bets Pruchya Isaro and Maximus Jones, 6-4, 7-6 (7).

A victory for the Filipino-Japanese pair could have arranged them a finals matchup against unseeded British pair Arthur Fery and Joshua Paris, who stunned top seed Luke Johnson of Great Britain and Skander Mansouri of Tunisia, 6-4, 6-2.

This was Alcantara’s first tournament of the season as he aims to improve his current career-high ATP doubles ranking at No. 211.

Last year, he won five ITF doubles titles.
