CREDIT IS THE WAY TO GO When traveling, credit cards allow travelers simplified payment methods, discounts from certain retailers, and accumulating points for perks

Credit cards, especially those designed for travel, come with substantial perks for those on the go, from free access to airport lounges to complimentary baggage check-in, extra points for leisure expenditures, and automatic elite status.

In its relentless mission to enhance the travel and lifestyle experiences of valued customers, Metrobank upgrades its most premium credit card, the World Mastercard. Crafted for the modern globetrotter looking to have the best privileges, the card pledges to set a new benchmark for first-class benefits.

The latest iteration of the World Mastercard was introduced over an afternoon cocktail at the Ito Kish Studio and Café. Apart from the presentation of the rewards and advantages of the card, the event allowed guests to enjoy discounts on curated home items and furniture.

Ramon del Rosario, head of consumer business sector, highlights the fact that the World Mastercard is a reliable partner to patrons, ensuring unforgettable dining, shopping, and travel experiences here and abroad. “As more Filipinos travel the world once again, we see this as the right opportunity to infuse more benefits in their Metrobank credit card that will allow our cardholders to create more cherished memories,” he says.

Asked which of the card’s features he looks forward to the most, Ramon responds, “We [Filipino tourists] usually travel in packs. For me, it’s the dining deals. I like promos in which I can involve my barkada, family, and [office] team.”

Exclusive deals are available from the bank’s extensive network of over 4,000 partner stores and restaurants across the US, the UK, Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Philippines. Discounts are offered by top-tier retail brands including Saks Fifth Avenue, Burberry, Tory Burch, Bloomingdale’s, Takashimaya, The Shilla Duty-Free, Macy’s, Lane Crawford, Chow Tai Fook, as well as local dining establishments like Café 1228 at New World Hotel, Jade Garden, and Cowrie Grill, to name a few.

Melissa Samson, head of credit card product and segment strategy, answers the same question. “I have a Japan trip soon. I love shopping. It’s the rebate and also the low foreign exchange conversion rate I’m very excited about.”

Consumers save more when they shop overseas or buy from international online stores.
For the limited period until April 30, this year, enjoy a low exchange conversion fee of only 1.85 percent for every foreign currency purchase.

The updated card also aims to elevate the rewards for users by letting them accumulate one mile for every ₱17 spent on foreign currency transactions conducted online or abroad in physical stores. This conversion rate is among the most competitive in the current market. For all other expenditures, earn one mile for every ₱50 spent.

On top of these, World Mastercard holders receive two free passes annually for access to over 1,300 airport lounges worldwide through DragonPass, making each journey as comfortable as possible. A 20 percent price cut on AXA full-trip Smart Traveller Insurance may be availed too.

The first two supplementary cards are free. Clients have a special 24-hour VIP customer service hotline that can be contacted for immediate assistance with any card concerns. The World Mastercard may also be linked to the new Metrobank Mobile App. apply.metrobank.com.ph.
