Gov. Edwin Ongchuan said these projects aim to provide employment, easy access to reliable transportation services, and fast movement of goods and services.

These projects will have a funding of P25 million each by the DOTr or a total of P75 million through the Republic Act 11639 or the General Appropriations Act (GAA) for Calendar Year 2022.

"This will greatly contribute to our economic upliftment because barges and commercial vessels will pass here for our ongoing infrastructure projects. We also concentrate on copra buying and copra supplying going to Lucena and other provinces like Quezon," Ongchuan said.

DOTr Undersecretary Elmer Francisco Sarmiento said they are happy to work with Northern Samar for these projects that will benefit the province and its municipalities.

"We are connecting communities such as Mapanas and other municipalities in Northern Samar to the bigger island economies for their economic growth," Sarmiento added.

Ongchuan reiterated his request to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista for the construction of the Pambujan Domestic Airport in Pambujan and the rehabilitation and improvement of the lighthouse on Batag Island in Laoang.
