Man nabbed for gun possession, resisting arrest in QC

A man was arrested after he tried to flee from policemen who saw him carrying a gun while driving a motorcycle at the corner of Sergeant Rivera Avenue and Sto. Domingo Street in Barangay Manresa, Quezon City on Thursday, Jan. 4.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) La Loma Station (PS 1) identified the suspect as Jon Jon Rualo, 32, a resident of Brgy. Tatalon, Quezon City.

Investigation disclosed that PS 1 personnel conducting anti-criminality patrol in the area spotted the suspect driving his motorcycle without a protective helmet along Sergeant Rivera Avenue at about 5 p.m. on Thursday. His vehicle also has no side mirrors.

This prompted the operatives to flag down his motorcycle and asked him for the documents of the vehicle.

QCPD said the suspect failed to show any papers for the motorcycle.

It added that the operatives ordered Rualo's to open his black sling bag after they noticed something bulky inside it.

The police arrested the suspect after they discovered an improvised shot gun or "sumpak" inside the bag.

Police said the suspect tried to resist and attempted to escape during the apprehension but he failed.

Recovered from him were the "sumpak”,  two  pieces of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition,  one black sling bag,  and his green Yamaha Mio Amore without a plate number.

The suspect will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code or the Disobedience of a Person in Authority or his Agent of the Revised Penal Code before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, police said.
