ZAMBOANGA CITY – Barangays here are implementing a curfew for minors based on a city council resolution approved last year by the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Ordinance 636, the ordinance imposing curfew for children in Zamboanga City, imposes the city-wide prohibition from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.
The ordinance is applicable to all children in Zamboanga City below 18-years-old, including those who are unable to fully take care of themselves due to physical or mental incapacities.
Under Section 4 of the ordinance, a curfew shall be imposed on children playing, loitering, and roaming the streets from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.
Exempted are children who are physically accompanied by parents or guardians, those attending evening classes provided they present their school IDs or certification, those running emergency errands, and those on their way to a social event where their attendance is required.
Minors found violating the ordinance, referred to as “children at risk,” shall be brought to their residences or to the barangay hall and face admonishment, counseling, and or community service for those who are from 15 -to 17-years-old.
Parents found violating the ordinance by allowing their children outside face reprimand, community service, and fines ranging from P500 to P5,000.
