The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show cause order (SCO) to the driver of a sedan who was involved in a viral road rage incident in Quezon City.
In a statement released Friday, Jan. 5, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said the agency has placed on alarm a Toyota Vios whose driver was engaged in a heated argument.
“A Show Cause Order was already issued and this was sent to the registered owner of that vehicle,” he stated.
“As part of the due process, we want to know the side of the person involved before any action of the LTO,” he went on.
In the SCO issued by the LTO, the registered owner of the vehicle was ordered to appear before the Office on Jan. 17 and bring a notarized affidavit as to why no penalties should be imposed against him.
Per the initial probe, the LTO said at least two violations were committed by the driver.
“The first is obstruction of traffic as a result of the heated altercation, and improper person to operate a motor vehicle which carries a penalty of driver’s license cancellation,” the agency noted.
Meanwhile, Mendoza has urged the registered owner of the involved vehicle to participate in the investigation, noting that refusal to do so would force the LTO to make a decision based on the evidence provided.
The LTO chief has told motorists to always keep their cool on the road and avoid road rage incidents.
