OCTA: Metro Manila's Covid-19 positivity rate down to 19.9%

The weekly Covid-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila decreased to 19.9 percent as of Jan. 2, the OCTA Research said on Thursday, Jan. 4.
OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said Metro Manila’s positivity rate was 24.7 percent on Dec. 26.
“The positivity rate peaked during the last week of December, as we had projected,” David pointed out.

Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from those who were tested for Covid-19.
OCTA’s observation was consistent with the report of the Department of Health (DOH), which showed that the country’s number of Covid-19 cases from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1 was 3,147, a decrease from 3,507 cases from. Dec. 19 to 25.
“The average number of new cases per day this week stood at 449, down 10 percent compared to cases from Dec. 19 to 25 [at 501],” the DOH said on Thursday, Jan. 4.
According to the DOH, only 40 of the new cases, or 1.28 percent, were serious or critically ill.
