Marcos declares Jan. 9 as special non-working day in Manila
President Marcos declared Jan. 9 as a special non-working day in the city of Manila for the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

Through Proclamation No. 434, Marcos made the declaration on Thursday, Jan. 4.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on behalf of the President, stated.
The Feast of the Black Nazarene is among the biggest religious events held in Manila and celebrated in many parts of the country every year.
The feast features "Traslacion" or traditional procession of the image of the Black Nazarene to Quiapo Church.
According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), around 2.5 million devotees are expected to join the yearly traditional procession.
