The fake information had been falsely attributed to Dr. Ruth Divinagracia of St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Addressing the alarming claims, the DOH stated, "There is no credible evidence or official announcement from health authorities supporting the assertion of a surge in Covid-19 cases at the mentioned hospital."

Moreover, the department urged the public to exercise caution and rely on information from reputable sources, emphasizing the importance of obtaining updates solely from official health organizations.

"Misinformation can contribute to unnecessary panic and fear," DOH warned.
It also pointed out the potential legal consequences, stating that criminal charges may be pursued if related posts persist.

It emphasized that disseminating misleading information during a public health emergency can have major consequences, and this dire warning serves as a reminder of those consequences.

The DOH continues to advise the public to only obtain information from legitimate sources and platforms, such as the health department's official links and social media handles.

It underscored the importance of vigilance to prevent the dissemination of false information and maintain public trust in health authorities.
