Ceres bus operator vows reliable service

ILOILO CITY – The operator of Ceres buses assured it will continue to provide reliable public transportation this year.

Leo Rey Yanson, newly re-elected chairman and president of Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI), the operator of Ceres bus, made the assurance during a recent stockholders meeting of the VTI, one of the nine companies under the Yanson Group of Bus Companies (YGBC) with headquarters in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

Yanson also made the pledge almost a month after the deadly Ceres bus plunge in Hamtic, Antique last December 5 that killed 19 people.

Despite the fatal accident, VTI under Yanson assured  the public that Ceres buses are safe to transport passengers.

His assurance also came following another recent court ruling in the ongoing family feud over the estate of patriarch and YGBC co-founder Ricardo B. Yanson Sr.

The patriarch’s death in October 2015 divided the family into two factions.

The first group is aligned with matriarch and YGBC co-founder Olivia, Leo Rey, and daughter Ginnette.

The other faction is composed of Ricardo Jr., Roy, Emily, and Celina.

Last October, the Court of Appeals (CA) ordered the arrest of Emily in a ruling that was publicly released only last December.

Emily was accused of falsifying documents when she removed her mother Olivia as stockholder of Ceres Transport Inc. (CTI), another company under YGBC, and listed herself as a stockholder.

The VTI stockholders meeting also elected Leo Rey, Olivia, Ginnette, Charles Dumancas, Anita G. Chua, Arvin John V. Villaruel, and Daniel Nicolas Golez on the Board of Directors.

Olivia was voted VTI corporate secretary and treasurer.
