A Facebook post by Chester Dela Rea Jr. shows a tarpaulin with a photo of his girlfriend and the greeting, "Happy 2nd Monthsary to my baby."
"Wag ka na magalit Eunita Jean Puspos Barcelona ayan pina-tarpaulin na kita (Do not be mad anymore Eunita Jean Puspos Barcelona, there, I have made you a tarpaulin," he captioned the post.
Dela Rea says the tarpaulin serves more than just a greeting; it is also an apology for showing up late for their Metro Manila Film Festival movie date.
“Na-late po ako nang gising, 8:00 a.m. po ang call time namin, 10:00 a.m. po ako nagising kaya nagtatampo po siya (I woke up late, our call time was 8:00 a.m. but I woke up at 10:00 a.m. so she was sulking),” the 20-year-old student entrepreneur told the Manila Bulletin.
According to Dela Rea, he previously saw a friend’s joke posted on Barcelona’s Facebook page about the effort of having a tarpaulin greeting printed for monthly anniversaries.
“Biniro ko po siya na ipapa-tarpaulin ko siya, akala niya biro-biro lang pero tinotoo ko ngayong second monthsary (I joked her that I would have a tarpaulin made for her, she thought I was just kidding but I made it happen for our second monthsary).”

Barcelona, on the other hand, appreciated her beau’s amusing public declaration of love.
“Marami pong nabati nang ‘happy monthsary’ kada lalabas nang bahay pati sa kalsada (Many people greet me ‘happy monthsary,’ every time I go out of the house, even on the streets),” the 23-year-old teacher and Sangguniang Kabataan councilor said.
The post earned over 23,000 reactions on Facebook.
