Bohol governor seeks help of village execs vs abusive biz men


CEBU CITY – Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado appealed to barangay officials to help the province get rid of abusive business owners.

The governor issued the appeal when he started his first day of work this year by distributing financial assistance to various barangays in the province.

Aumentado on Tuesday, January 2, distributed more than P6 million in cash assistance to the towns of Panglao, Dauis, Baclayon, Alburquerque, and Tagbilaran City.

During the distribution at the Tawala Covered Court in Panglao, Aumentado informed barangay officials of the plans of Air Asia airline to put up a hub at the Bohol Panglao International Airport (BPIA) that will create more direct international flights.

Aumentado having more international flights will bring in more tourism opportunities for the province.

The governor asked barangay officials to help protect the tourism industry by not tolerating businesses that charge tourists with exorbitant fees.

From Panglao, Aumentado proceeded to Dauis where he distributed P300,000 cash assistance to 12 barangays.

The governor also handed over P4.5 million in financial assistance to 17 barangays in Baclayon.

He turned over P1.4 million to the local government unit of Baclayon as its share from the sand and gravel revenue.

A P275,000 cash assistance was distributed to 11 barangays in Alburquerque.

Aumentado’s series of visits ended in Tagbilaran where he turned over P455,000 to Mayor Jane Yap.

“The purpose of series of town visitation is to get the sentiments of every barangays and find solutions to every concerns being brought up,” said Aumentado.
