CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – The Department of Health (DOH)-Region 2 has recorded 77 fireworks-related injuries (FWRIs) in Cagayan Valley as of January 3.
It logged 16 new FWRIs from January 2 to 3.
The number of cases was 38 or 97 percent more compared to the same period in 2022.
Majority of the victims or 88 percent were males aged four to 76 and 48 percent were from Isabela.
Most of them or 77 percent were active users while 64 percent of FWRIs happened at home.
Eighty-eight percent of the victims sustained blast and burn injury and 12 percent had eye injury.
Fifty-six percent of the FWRIs were caused by Kwitis. No firework ingestion and stray bullet injury were recorded.
