Atty. Don Artes, 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) chairman, is all smiles these days.
And for good reason.
The 49th edition of the film fest has already earned a whopping 700 million pesos in gross receipts.
This is way, way better than the 2022 MMFF, which only earned 500 million pesos.
And there are still several days to go.
The 2023 MMFF officially ends on January 7 and Artes is hopeful it will earn more to actually beat the 2018 record: 1.061 billion pesos.
He went on to thank producers who joined the festival.
"Kasi sila 'yung nag-produce, kami po ay namili lamang,” he said.
Meanwhile, unofficial tally has Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes’ “Rewind” leading the pack in terms of earnings.
Many believe it is on its way to surpassing earnings of previous MMFF record holders “Deleter” (234 million pesos) and “Partners In Crime” (168 million pesos).
“Rewind” is closely followed in terms of earnings by “Mallari,” “GOMBURZA,” and “Firefly.”
