Despite the ongoing tension between the two families, Vice President Sara Duterte will stay on as the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd), President Marcos said.

Marcos said this after the Vice President's father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, made wild accusations that the President is a drug addict.
In an interview with reporters in Vietnam on Jan. 30, the President said he would keep Vice President Duterte in her post in the Cabinet.
"Yes, yes," he responded when asked if he would keep the Vice President as the Education Secretary.
According to Marcos, his relationship with the younger Duterte is unchanged despite her father's tirades against him.
"Well, it’s exactly the same because she has [not said anything] of that nature," he said.
"And wala naman siyang sinasabi na ganyang klase. So hindi naman nagbabago (She hasn't said anything of that sort so our relationship did not change)," he added.
A day before leaving for Marcos' trip to Vietnam, Vice President Duterte attended the Bagong Pilipina kick-off rally at the Quirino Grandstand to show support for the government. She, however, left without meeting Marcos to attend the prayer rally led by her father in Davao City.
These developments did not sit well with members of the opposition who asked her to step down from her Cabinet post following the verbal tussle between the two families.
Vice President Duterte has already said that she will stay as DepEd Secretary until President Marcos decides otherwise.
