Pasay City’s carnapping suspect arrested in Cavite

Members of the Pasay City police and the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) nabbed a suspect in the carnapping of a Hyundai Kona during a follow-up operation in Cavite on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Pasay City police chief Col. Mario Mayames reported to the Southern Police District (SPD) the arrest of alias Tim at around 8:30 p.m. in a village in Paliparan I, Dasmarinas,Cavite.

According to Mayames, Tim, together with a still unidentified suspect, stole the Hyundai Kona vehicle from a parking area of a casino in Barangay 183, Pasay City at around 10:00 p.m. on Jan. 21.

Mayames said that during a follow-up operation, the vehicle was found in the possession of Tim and allegedly in the process of being sold.

Aside from the stolen vehicle, police operatives also recovered the Mitsubishi Xpander used by the suspect during the carnapping incident.

The city police chief said that aside from the recovery of the two vehicles, the police also recovered a replica airsoft gun from the vehicle placed inside a black sling bag.

Mayames said the suspect was immediately brought to the Pasay police custodial facility for thorough investigation and filing of  appropriate charges.
