The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has teamed up with a non-profit organization to boost the government's capability to respond during emergency situations and disasters.
Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno, administrator of OCD, signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Next Generation Advocate Foundation PH Inc. (NEXT GEN) represented by its treasurer, Princess Go, at the OCD Building in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
"We have to help the younger generation understand the importance of preparedness and the need for a reliable system in the event of major calamities," Nepomuceno said on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

Under the MOA, NEXT GEN shall provide support to the government's disaster response operations by furnishing resources such as relief goods, logistic support like trucks, heavy equipment, and warehouse; and communication equipment.
Further, NEXT GEN shall also assist in projects and activities by the OCD related to response efforts.
Nepomuceno thanked the Next Gen Foundation for collaborating with the OCD as he emphasized the importance of ensuring timely and adequate assistance to populations affected by disasters.
Meanwhile, Go conveyed the foundation’s commitment to support the OCD.
"Let us remember the spirit that brought us together - the spirit of resilience, compassion, bayanihan, and a shared commitment to be there for our communities. May this collaboration be a beacon of hope for those who need it most and may our collective effort pave the way for a safer, more resilient Philippines," she said.
