Man arrested for illegal possession of firearm in Pasay City

A man reported to be a repeat offender was nabbed for illegal possession of firearm during the conduct of a mobile patrol by the Pasay City police early Wednesday morning, Jan. 31.
Pasay City police chief Col. Mario Mayames said the suspect, identified as alias Raymond, reportedly a member of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik gang, was arrested at around 4:30 a.m. by members of the Central Park police substation along EDSA Highway near corner Wood Street, Barangay 144, Pasay City.
Mayames said Raymond's arrest was part of the Southern Police District's (SPD) simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operation (SACLEO) against lawless elements.
He said that while conducting mobile patrol along the area, police operatives noticed the suspect holding a suspicious object in his waistline while talking to a male companion.
Sensing the presence of policemen, alias Raymond tried to evade arrest but was cornered. His companion managed to flee.
Mayames said recovered from the suspect was a .45 caliber pistol with five live ammunitions.
He said the suspect was also found to have a history of involvement in theft, illegal gambling, and previous charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition,
The city police chief said the suspect was immediately brought to the Pasay police headquarters custodial facility.
