Malacanang has declared Feb. 13 in Parañaque City a special non-working day in celebration of the city’s 126th  cityhood anniversary.

Mayor Eric Olivarez said that based on Proclamation No. 461 issued by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Feb. 13 in Parañaque City is a special non-working day to give city residents full opportunity to participate and enjoy  the celebration of  the 126th cityhood anniversary.

Aside from the suspension of work, Olivarez also declared class suspension in the city during the celebration.

The mayor said the city government has prepared various activities highlighted by the grand “Sunduan” tradition at the Saint Andrews Cathedral in Barangay La Huerta to be followed by a concert at the Parañaque City Hall.

The mayor explained that “Sunduan” is the city’s tradition where a gentleman fetches his lady love at home to bring her to the church or town plaza.

To impress his lady love and her parents, the gentleman usually brings with him a marching band that accompanies the couple as they walk to the church.
