The Manila Police District (MPD) has launched a manhunt operation for the suspect who stabbed a man to death during a quarrel in Tondo, Manila on Tuesday night, Jan. 30.
The MPD identified the suspect as Carlo Calugay, 22, and a resident of Tondo, Manila.
According to the initial investigation, the victim, who was identified as Alejandro Navajas, went to Gabriela Street, Barangay 53 in Tondo at around 9:55 p.m. on Tuesday.
Barangay 51 Captain Eric Santos said in a media interview that according to the victim's wife, Navajas went to the area to visit his sick in-laws and to assist them in putting medicine drops on their eyes.
He said that the victim temporarily parked his motorcycle outside Gabriela Street, where the father of the suspect, Catalino Cordero was. Cordero reportedly got mad and told Navajas to remove his motorcycle. A heated argument ensued.
Police said the heated argument led to Navajas stabbing Cordero.
At this juncture, Calugay reportedly tried to pacify them.
Navajas was about to leave when Calugay noticed that his father was bleeding due to a stab wound.
The suspect reportedly left to get a bladed weapon which he used in stabbing Navajas several times. Calugay immediately fled.
The victim was rushed to Mary Johnston Hospital but was pronounced dead-on-arrival at around 10:49 p.m. due to the stab wounds in the different parts of his body.
