Vlogger victimized by scammer in Antipolo

A 25-year-old man was nabbed by operatives of the Cainta Municipal Police for scamming a vlogger in Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo Rizal on Jan. 27, the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said Tuesday, Jan. 30.

The suspect was identified as "John," a driver and a resident of Mabitac, Laguna.

According to the police, John contacted the maid of a vlogger identified as "Francis" via Facebook Messenger saying that the victim's wife was involved in an accident and was asking for money and jewelry.

The maid immediately informed Francis of the message who confirmed that the person who called them was a scammer. The victim and his maid agreed to push through with the transaction to catch the suspect.

They sought assistance from the Cainta police who conducted the entrapment operation which led to John's arrest in Tanay, Rizal. Recovered from him was the cellphone that he used to scam Francis and his maid.

The suspect is now facing charges of swindling.
