BACOLOD CITY – An 18-year-old man was allegedly mauled and stabbed dead by four persons in a public market in Barangay Zone 3, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Monday, January 29.

Police identified the victim as Charles Wendel Mompar of Barangay Tinampa-an, Cadiz City.
Police Lt. Col. John Joel Batusbatusan, Cadiz police chief, said the victim figured in a commotion when he was sighted by the suspects.
Batusbatusan said that three minors, two aged 17 and one aged 13, mauled the victim while the father of one of the suspects stabbed him.
He said that the suspects allegedly planned revenge on the victim following a misunderstanding.
The victim was declared dead in a hospital.
The two minor suspects were arrested in Barangay Zone 3 while the other minor and the adult surrendered to the police in Barangay Luna Proper later that day.
Murder charges were filed on Tuesday, January 30, against the 42-year-old suspect and the two minors aged 17.
