P25.7-M illegal drugs seized in Cordillera


LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police seized P25.7-million worth of illegal drugs and arrested two suspected drug personalities during a week-long operation from January 22 to 28.

A total of 127,605  fully grown marijuana plants, 1,000 marijuana stalks, and 1,350 marijuana seedlings valued at P25,695,000 were discovered in eradication operations conducted in the provinces of Benguet and Kalinga.

These were burned on-site after documentation and follow-up operations are being conducted to identify cultivators.

Two drug personalities were apprehended for possession of suspected shabu weighing one gram valued at P6,800.

Suspects face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. They are in the custody of arresting units.

Police conducted barangay visitation and information operations on the anti-illegal drugs campaign of the Philippine National Police.
