On Jan. 22, 2024, Japanese Ambassador Kazuhiko Koshikawa led the induction ceremony for the 9th Term Board of Trustees of the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) International Philippines. Present at the event were National Youth Commission Chairperson and CEO, Undersecretary Ronald Gian Carlo L. Cardema; DOST-SEI Director Dr. Josette Biyo; and Chairperson of SSEAYP International Philippines (SIP), Michelle Uson Laurel.
During the ceremony, held at the Embassy of Japan, board members formally took an oath. The newly inducted officers are professionals from various fields, including former SSEAYP participants.
Established in 1987, SSEAYP International (SI) is a global youth organization comprising SSYEAP alumni organizations from ASEAN countries and Japan. It serves as a connecting hub for promoting international youth exchange programs and socio-civic activities among its members. SI is represented by SSEAYP International Philippines, Inc. (SIP), with former Filipino SSEAYP participants as its members. Additionally, 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the launch of SSEAYP.
Congratulations to the newly inducted 9th Term Board of Trustees of SSEAYP International Philippines! As #SSEAYP celebrates its 50th anniversary, may the organization reach new frontiers in promoting further exchanges between alumni members this year.
