Last Sunday, two huge rallies happened in Metro Manila and Davao, and stars were present. During the Bagong Pilipinas rally held at the Quirino Grandstand, rapper Andrew E. was one of the main attractions together with bands Aegis & Agsunta, comedians Jose Manalo & Wally Bayola, and the 4th Impact Girl Group (formerly 4th Power).

Attendees were mainly employees of the different government agencies, supporters of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (PBBM) supporters, and fans of the stars. An estimated 400,000 people attended the rally, and PBMM told the Filipino people, “Bagong Pilipinas is not a new partisan coalition in disguise….It is a call for transformation, the transformation of our idea of being a Filipino ... and the transformation of our economy, governance, and society.”

At the same time the Bagong Pilipinas rally was being held, an estimated fifty- three thousand Filipinos on the south side of the Philippines gathered at the San Pedro Square, praying and lighting candles as a call to stop the People’s Initiative to amend our constitution.

Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (PRRD) and his son, the honorable Sebastian “Baste” Zimmerman Duterte, the mayor of Davao, attended the prayer rally.

Before attending the prayer rally, a new coalition called Hakbang ng Maisug (Steps of the Brave) was launched in a nearby hotel with several leaders of our nation to protect the constitution against the signature campaign of the People’s Initiative to push for Charter Change and amend the 1987 Constitution.

So, who were the stars that attended the prayer rally in Davao? To the surprise of all the attendees of the prayer rally held in Davao, Wowowin host Willie Revillame came and gave a heartfelt speech.

Before speaking onstage, he kissed the hand of former president PRRD and gave our former president a jacket with the design of the Philippine flag saying, “Philippine flag… maraming kulay, lahat ng kulay, dahil gusto ninyong magkaisa ang sambayanan. Kaya lahat po ng kulay. Kayo lang po ang nagpapa-isa sa Bayan na ito. Marami pong Salamat sa pagimbita ninyo sa akin.” (Here is a jacket with the design of the Philippine flag, lots of colors because you want to unite our country, That is why all the colors are there because you (PRRD) are the only one that is uniting our country. Thank you for inviting me here.”

But the biggest star who had the loudest applause that attended the prayer rally was the Vice President of the Philippines, the honorable Sara Zimmerman Duterte (VP Inday Sara) who thanked everyone for supporting her family, “Malaki ang utang na loob naming sa inyo mga kababayan naming sa pagkakataon na ibinibigay ninyo sa amin na makapaglingkod sa ating pamahalaan … (We owe a lot to you our fellowmen for giving us the chance to serve the government...) In an earlier statement , VP Inday Sara announced her opposition to changing the constitution, “Mahalaga na makita at maintindihan natin ang panganib na naka-amba sa atin oras na  tuluyan natin isuko ang ating Saligang batas sa kamay ng mga taong may personal at political na interes.” (It is important to see and understand the dangers we face once we allow our constitution to be in the hands of those with personal and political interests).
