ILOILO CITY — Sen. Bong Go has vowed to back proposals for the expansion of specialty medical centers in this city and province of Iloilo.

These are the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Iloilo City and Western Visayas Sanitarium and General Hospital (WVSGH) in Santa Barbara town.
As one of the principal sponsors of the Regional Specialty Centers Act, Go emphasized the importance of expanding specialty services especially to hospitals managed by the Department of Health (DOH).
The DOH-run WVMC has existing specialty services for cardiovascular care, lung care, neo-natal care, and mental health.
Go said he will back WVMC’s plans to add orthopedic care, physician rehabilitation medicine, trauma care, cancer care, geriatric care, eye care, and toxicology care.
He assured support for WVSGH’s plan to have a specialty center focusing on toxicology care.
Go inspected the construction of the Super Health Center in Pavia town on the sidelights of the Dinagyang Festival over the weekend.
He distributed assistance to 53 victims of typhoon "Egay" last year. They include residents here and the neighboring towns of Pavia and Zarraga.
