DSWD-8 distributes emergency cash aid in Northern Samar
TACLOBAN CITY – To ensure the recovery and rehabilitation of flood-hit families, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-8 (Eastern Visayas) continues to distribute emergency cash transfers in Northern Samar.

DSWD-8 started the distribution of cash assistance on January 19 to the families affected by the flooding due to the shear line in Northern Samar last November.
A total of 123,133 families will receive P3,040 in cash assistance under the DSWD Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program.
DSWD has allotted P537 million in emergency cash aid to the families affected by a triad of disasters that occurred in the last quarter of 2023.
Such assistance was also provided in Region 12 (Soccsargen) and Region 13 (Caraga).
As of January 26, DSWD-8 has served 13,418 affected families in the province of Northern Samar, disbursing over P40.7 million out of the P374.3-million budget for their cash assistance in Eastern Visayas.
