Baste Duterte apologized over rants vs PBBM, says Imee

Sen. Imee Marcos on Tuesday, January 39, said that Davao City Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte apologized to her over his speech filled with strong language against President Marcos, and even calling for the resignation of the latter.

In an ambush interview on Tuesday, Jan. 30, Marcos said that Mayor Duterte approached her and apologized for making such a call, which the presidential sister said she understood.

"Lumapit sa akin ay si Mayor Baste Duterte nagsorry nang nagsorry. Naintindihan ko naman kasi syempre sobrang emosyonal sya dahil isipin mo naman ikukulong yung tatay mo at yung ate mo talagang magrerebolusyon yung damdamin (Mayor Baste Duterte approached me and said sorry. I understand of course, he was emotional given that his father and elder sister might be jailed, his emotions will naturally rise)," she said.

"Sabi ko nga hoy ano yan 'bakit pinagsasabi mo yan?' Sabi nya sorry ha, sorry. Nakakatuwa nga eh. Pero naiintindihan ko pero syempre nababagabag yung damdamin ng bagets ehs syempre tatay niya saka ate nya (I told him, 'why are you saying those things?' He said, I'm sorry. I was actually glad. But I understand because the kid is emotional because it's his father and sister)," she added.

There were reports that the Marcos administration allowed the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the previous administration’s bloody war on drugs and a warrant of arrest against former president Rodrigo Duterte is expected any moment.

Mayor Duterte called for the President's resignation during the Hakbang ng Maisug Forum at Grand Men Seng Hotel in Davao City on Sunday, January 28.

He expressed dismay over the country's current status, particularly the reported proliferation of illegal drugs and various crime incidents not only here but also nationwide.

He even recalled that when his father was the president, there was a clear campaign against illegal drugs and criminality. He said after his father completed his term, people involved in unlawful activities returned to business.

Vice President Sara Duterte assured she’s ready to face the “black propaganda” and challenges being thrown at her.

While the Vice President attended the “Bagong Pilipinas” kickoff rally on Sunday, she left just before the arrival of President Marcos and other government officials.

She was seen instead at the prayer rally against the People’s Initiative (PI) to amend the 1987 Constitution in Davao City, where her brother and father once more attacked Marcos, with the former president calling him a “drug addict” and “bangag (stupid).”

Asked to comment on the former president Duterte's tirades against the President, the senatorial sister said: "Di na ako kasali doon bahala na sila kayang-kaya na nila yan. Nakakaloka, yun lang ang masasabi ko (I'm no longer involved there, they can handle that. It's insane, that's all I can say)."
