Rain showers to persist in parts of PH due to 'amihan', easterlies
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, Jan. 3 said the northeast monsoon and easterlies will continue to bring rain showers over parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

In PAGASA's 4 a.m. live broadcast, weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to heavy rains in the affected areas.
The northeast monsoon or “amihan” may also bring rains to Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Aurora, and Quezon, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains may prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
PAGASA also advised the public to be alert for possible flash floods or landslides in times of moderate to heavy rains in Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Aurora, and Quezon.
In the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will be felt caused by the localized thunderstorms.
The public is also warned of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
