Over half a billion was issued to cover the construction and expansion of the National Kidney and Transplant Institute’s (NKTI) building, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
Budget Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman has approved the issuance of Special Allotment Release Orders amounting to P550 million to fund NKTI’s Out-Patient Department building.
“Ang palagi pong sinasabi ng ating mahal na Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., no Filipino should be deprived of quality health care,” Pangandaman said in a statement.
“That’s why we continuously give high regard to our health care facilities, more importantly, our specialty hospitals like NKTI,” she added.
The building is designed to carry the hospital’s social services, including diagnostic and surgical facilities.
The NKTI proposed the construction of the eight-story building to further enhance the specialization in the treatment and prevention of kidney and allied diseases.
The facility will provide areas for the expansion of the hospital's outpatient services which will cost a total of P1.331 billion.
The institute, located along East Avenue in Quezon City, is the center for referral of kidney patients from various regional hospitals in the country and is recognized as one of lead agencies in voluntary blood services.
