Police Major Jovito Bose, Moises Padilla police chief, said that the Templaturas were having a drinking session when a heated argument erupted between John Albert and an individual.

The barangay chairman attempted to pacify them and asked assistance from a nearby CAFGU detachment when they became unruly.

Militiaman Donan Sosia, 32, of Barangay Macagahay, Moises Padilla, assigned to the 2nd Platoon, 32nd Negros Occidental CAA, Delta Company, of the Army 62nd Infantry Battalion, responded to the call.

Sosia approached John Albert to pacify him but he attempted to hack the suspect with a bolo. The militiaman drew his firearm and shot John Albert. Godofredo ran after Sosia but he too was shot.

The Templaturas sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.

Two individuals, Marites Rafol, 49, and Jeisel Abaño, 34, were wounded by stray bullets and taken to a hospital here where they are in stable condition.

Bose said that the Templaturas would usually become unruly whenever they are drunk.

Police arrested Sosia after he returned to his detachment. Recovered from him were his M16 service firearm and a bandolier with seven loaded magazines.

Bose said that two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder are being readied against the suspect for “excessive use of force.”

Sosia said that the shot the fatalities in self-defense as one of the victims was armed.

A CAFGU for 13 years, Sosia said that he is willing to face the charges against him. He also apologized to the families of the victims for the incident.
