CEBU CITY – The number of fireworks-related injuries during Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve in Central Visayas has increased to 70.
The Department of Health-Central Visayas (DOH-7) reported that 10 more FWRIs were recorded on Wednesday, January 3.
The DOH-7 said that 37 sustained hand injuries, 14 were injured in the eye, and while 13 suffered blast injury in the head.
Seven were injured in the arm, three in the chest, and six in the lower extremities.
Cebu province still has the highest number of FWRIs with 33.
Cebu City has 12 and Bohol and Negros Oriental have eight apiece. The cities of Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue each recorded four while Siquijor had one.
These figures were recorded from December 21 to January 3.
The DOH-7 has yet to receive reports of cases of fireworks ingestion.
The Health agency said no injuries were caused by a stray bullet.
