570 devotees join first day of Black Nazarene replica blessing; Traslacion guidelines released
A total of 570 devotees joined the first day of the blessing of Black Nazarene replicas at Quiapo Church on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

The second day of the replica blessing will be conducted on Jan. 4., the Quiapo Church management said.
Quiapo Church communications coordinator Silgen Frias Cabrito said that most of the participants were from Hijos del Nazareno (Sons of the Black Nazarene), the official organization of Quiapo Church.
Cabrito said that 450 devotees from the three groups of the HDN took part in the replica blessing -- 180 from HDN-Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno (NPJN), 150 from HDN-Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (MBBN), and 120 from HDN-Basilica.
“Under nila (HDN groups) ay ang mga affiliated na balangay na mula sa iba't-ibang samahan dito sa Manila, Metro Manila, at mga karatig probinsya. Ito 'yung mga dumadalo sa ginaganap taon-taon na replica blessing. Bukod sa mga affiliated meron rin tayong mga individual, ‘yan 'yung mga pamilya o sarili lang (under them (HDN groups), are the affiliated balangay from various organizations here in Manila, Metro Manila, and neighboring provinces. Those are the devotees who attend the annual replica blessing. Besides the affiliated ones, we also have individuals or families who own replicas,” he said.
Aanother 120 owners of Nazareno replicas joined the blessing and procession.
The replica blessing is an annual activity for the celebration of the traslacion of the Black Nazarene every Jan. 9.
“Ang pagbabasbas ng mga imahen ng Poong Hesus Nazareno ay taunang isinasagawa dahil ito ay sagrado, banal at ito ang nagiging sandigan ng mga deboto na magkaroon sila ng sariling mga inaalagaang imahen ng Poong Jesus Nazareno kahit sa ibang bansa na may mga Filipino community (the blessing of the images of the Black Nazarene is done annually because it is sacred and divine, and it becomes the commitment of the devotees to have their own images of the Nazarene even in other countries with Filipino communities),” Cabrito added.
Traslacion 2024 guidelines
Meanwhile, the Quiapo Church management also released on Wednesday the guidelines that devotees should follow during the event.
It said that devotees are not allowed to climb the "andas" or the carriage of the Black Nazarene to avoid pushing and climbing onto the backs of other devotees.
Devotees are encouraged not to bring a big bag or a lot of stuff. They can bring a small or transparent bag so authorities can inspect it easily.
For those who will join but are not feeling well, as well as the kids, the management said that they should just wait on the side of the road for their safety.
Devotees are reminded to eat before the event begins to have enough energy during the Traslacion.
The Quiapo Church called on them to follow the rules and let the image of the Black Nazarene be the highlight of the celebration.
