The surrenderers were members of the Sub-Regional Sentro de Grabidad Peddler of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee.
They turned themselves in following an intensified focus military operation conducted by the 48th Infantry Battalion (IB), 27th IB, and 73th IB, all under the 1003rd Infantry Brigade (IBde) led by Brig. Gen. Marion T. Angcao that resulted into encounters on December 27 and December 29 in Kitaotao.
10th Infantry (Agila) Division commander Brig. Gen. Allan D. Hambala cited the communist rebels for heeding the call to surrender instead of evading government forces and choosing to fight back.
"Let us give peace a chance. We should shun violence to solve our country's problems and unite and collaborate to address the root causes of insurgency, aiming for just and lasting peace," added Hambala.
Soldiers provided first aid to the wounded amazon and coordinated with the concerned agency for medical assistance.
