2 Army intel agents die in ambush

Two intelligence operatives of the Army 51st Infantry Battalion were killed in an ambush in Barangay Lininding, Munai, Lanao del Norte on Wednesday afternoon, January 3.

THE body of an intelligence trooper lies on the ground following an ambush in Lanao del Norte on January 3.

Lt. Col. Victor Czar Villanueva, 51st Infantry Battalion commander, said three soldiers were conducting intelligence operations in the area on board motorcycles when they were attacked by unidentified armed men.

Two of them died on the spot while the third jumped out of his motorcycle and was able to return fire.

The military is pursuing the gunmen.
