Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri on Monday, January 29, lauded the 43 legislative districts that did not succumb to the pressure in the ongoing push for the People’s Initiative (PI) as a means to amend the 1987 Constitution.
Out of 254 legislative districts, only 43 of them veered away from the campaign, Zubiri disclosed during his privilege speech at the Senate.
“I would just like to present for the record the 43 legislative districts that stood firm and remained strong—I call them 43-Strong—that held off, out of the 254 districts,” Zubiri said.
The 43 districts are:
National Capital Region:
Manila - 6th Legislative District
Marikina - 1st and 2nd Legislative Districts Valenzuela – 1st and 2nd Legislative Districts Parañaque – 1st and 2nd Legislative Districts Las Piñas Lone Legislative District
Malabon Lone Legislative District
Pasig Lone Legislative District
San Juan Lone Legislative District
Taguig Lone Legislative District Taguig-Pateros Lone Legislative District
Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR):
Benguet - Lone Legislative District
Baguio - Lone Legislative District
Kalinga - Lone Legislative District
Mountain Province - Lone Legislative District
Region I:
Ilocos Norte – 1st and 2nd Legislative Districts
Ilocos Sur – 1st and 2nd Legislative Districts La Union – 2nd Legislative District Region III
Bulacan – 4th Legislative District Region IV-A
Cavite – 3rd Legislative District

“Iyan po ang hindi pa nagbibigay ng signatures (These are the districts that did not provide signatures). We salute all of them for standing strong,” Zubiri said.
Prior to this, the Senate leader commended the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for putting a stop to all proceedings related to the PI signature campaign.
