Police Col. Leo Pamittan finished his two-year stint as Negros Occidental police director on January 8.
However, Pamittan said that he has to extend his stay in the province pending his replacement.
Pamittan was assigned to the province in January 2022, replacing Police Col. Romy Palgue.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said that he prefers a non-Negrense police officer.
Lacson said two police officers have expressed interest in leading the provincial police force.
But he said that he will wait for the recommendation of the higher headquarters before making a choice.
