The Duterte family looks eager to "bring down" President Marcos this early in his administration.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez had this to say during a party leaders' caucus late Sunday night, Jan. 28, just a few hours after former president Rodrigo Duterte and his son, Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte launched tirades against Marcos.
“Sa pamilyang Duterte, siguro konting galang naman sa ating mahal na Presidente tsaka sa pamilya n'ya. Noong panahon ng rehimen n'yo, iginalang naman kayo,” he said.
(To the Duterte family, please show a bit of respect to our beloved President and to his family. You were shown respect during your regime.)
“Masyadong maaga naman ninyo gustong ipabagsak ang rehimen ng [President Marcos] (You want to bring down the regime of President Marcos this early), very popular and he was elected with a bigger mandate than the former president.

"Kaya't igalang naman natin 'yan. 'Yan po ang mandato ng taumbayan ng Pilipinas,” added Romualdez.
(That's why we should show him respect. That's the mandate of the Filipino people.)
President Marcos, Duterte's direct successor, garnered over 31 million votes en route to his election victory in May 2022.
During an event in Davao, Mayor Duterte told President Marcos to resign, while the elder Duterte insinuated that the Chief Executive was a drug user. He went as far as to claim that President Marcos' name was on the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's (PDEA) drug list.
President Marcos' term will end in 2028.
