President Marcos wants Filipinos to be safe from crime and calamities under his administration's new brand of governance.
During the kick-off of the 'Bagong Pilipinas' (new Philippines) rally on Sunday, Marcos ordered the men in uniform to assure the public of their safety as the government also vowed to pay them with utmost support in return.
"Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang mga mamamayan ay dapat ligtas—ligtas sa krimen, ligtas sa kalamidad. Sa mga pulis, ating mga bumbero, tiyakin ninyo na agarang pagresponde sa bawat tawag at sumbong (Under the new Philippines, the people should be safe—safe from crime, from calamities. To our policemen, our firefighters, make sure that you can respond immediately to any calls of assistance)," Marcos said.
"Ang inyong sigasig ay susuklian natin ng suporta (Your hardwork will be paid of with support)–of ample resources to move, to communicate, and to solve the problems that we are facing," he added.
Aside from assuring the public of their safety, Marcos said, authorities must also ensure that the number of people seeking help and filing complaints would decrease, because that means the crime rate has already gone down.
To do that, Marcos said, the government would help with what they need, such as "tools to prevent a different kind of stealing," among other things."
When contents of e-wallets are picked by cybercriminals, when their dirty hands reach our children through computer screens," he said.
The defenses of the people and communities against calamities will also be strengthened, he added.
"More than paying tribute to their resilience, we must provide them with resources," Marcos said.
