P3-M marijuana seized in police checkpoint


LUBUAGAN, Kalinga – Police intercepted three persons while transporting over P3-million worth of marijuana and shabu in a police checkpoint in Sitio Dinakan, Dangoy, Lubuagan, Kalinga on Monday, January 29.

Police Col. Freddie Lazona, Kalinga police chief, said two suspects are residents of Angeles City, Pampanga while one is a resident of Marikina City and listed as streel-level individuals.

Lazona said the 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company, Lubuagan police, and Provincial Intelligence Unit-Drug Enforcement Unit (PIU-PDEU)-Kalinga PPO flagged down a white Toyota Hi-Ace van without license plates and while conducting inspection, discovered under the backseat of the vehicle two sacks containing marijuana bricks.

Based on inventory, confiscated items weighed 25,000 and has a standard drug price of P3 million.

Suspects also yielded one small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu weighing 0.1 gram with an SDP of P680.

Onsite inventory was conducted in the presence of the arrested suspects, duly witnessed by representatives from the Department of Justice and a barangay kagawad.

Suspect face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs law of 2002, specifically the provision on the illegal transport of prohibited drugs.
