Mayor Honey encourages jobseekers to undergo training

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan encouraged jobseekers to avail of the free training program being offered by the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW).
Lacuna-Pangan said on Monday, Jan. 29, that MDSW is continuously offering free training programs for gainful employment and entrepreneurship at no cost.
The program, she said, is aimed at developing industry-skilled workers or entrepreneurs through skills training and related services, preferably for economically disadvantaged families residing in Manila.
"We hope to achieve socio-economic improvement among individuals and/or families through gainful employment," Lacuna-Pangan added.
According to MDSW Chief Re Fugoso, interested applicants may proceed to the Manila Manpower Development Center (MMDC) Office located on A. Villegas Street in Arroceros.
They are required to bring a barangay clearance, a vaccine card, a valid identification card, and a 1x1 picture.
Fugoso said there are training courses on barista, baking, bread and pastry, cookery, cooking, and food processing, beauty care (skin and nail care), digital printing, food and beverage services, garments trade, hairdressing, housekeeping, spa wellness, massage therapy, and unisex haircutting.
There will also be additional demonstrations on product-making processes of alcohol, bags, candles, various soaps, liquid and powder cleaners, fabrics, massage oils, vapor rub, and processed meats.
In the last quarter of 2023, trainees of the same program reached 499.
Trainees who finished courses were given certificates of completion, Fugoso added.
